RoughMatch, part of the DiamondMatch solution by Spacecode, uses computer vision and AI to authenticate and trace rough diamonds, aiming to prevent frauds such as swapping and roundtripping.
To begin with, the system creates a unique digital fingerprint for each rough diamond at its mine of origin. It then directly links this fingerprint to the stone’s official Kimberley Process Certificate. As the next step, when rough stones cross borders, customs officials scan the KPC together with the physical diamonds. As a result, the system immediately confirms a perfect match or, alternatively, flags any critical discrepancy for investigation.
In addition, the technology assigns each diamond a digital identity on a blockchain like Tracr and delivers objective authentication based on physical characteristics, even after diamonds move through repackaging.
